Freshly back from Portugal and not sure how recovered I was from the Serra da Freita I didn’t have time to really think about it. I had to unpack, wash (or not since the washer was broken), entertain my 2 nephews for 3 days and pack for a 24+hr adventure race. http://www.wildernesstraverse.com/
It was fun adventure with 3 amazing women. Roughing it out paddling, trekking and biking in the wilderness of Parry Sound. Dealing with heat, getting lost, torrential downpours and very nasty bugs. Saw a beautiful deer and luckily no rattle snakes or bears.
Start with a 39km paddle which includes a 1km portage. Which took almost 7 hours.
Then a quick transition to a 37km trek, that took longer then expected 10.5 hours. Lots of beaver crossings. Some swimming and tonnes of “Where are we moments?”.
Rain started at midnight and continued until 5a.m.
Finally on the bikes before 3a.m. for some crazy, muddy, puddle and slick rock riding fun for 48km in about 7hrs.
Short coursed to the finish on a 13km road ride that took 53min (includes brief transition time).
First time WT had female teams and there were 4. We finished first and the only female team to do the majority of the bike section. Super proud of my team the Speed Bunnies.
